Charley won his first award in
grammar school for an interpretive drawing of the story, "Three Little
Pigs." Despite this early indication of promise, he did little but
an occasional pencil sketch with the exception of one semester of
architectural drafting at Penn.
Grown and married; Charley
made the family Christmas cards. He created line drawings, had them
printed, and his children added colors. Aware of his interest in
art, the children bought him an oil painting set one year for Father's Day
which launched a wonderful hobby. Eventually friends began to buy
his oils, and Charley started to take his hobby more seriously.
Since 1987, Charley has
exhibited and won numerous awards in the Philadelphia and New Jersey Shore
area. He is represented by the Art Ventures Gallery in Springhouse,
PA; Dorothy Carrol Fine Arts in Stone Harbor, NJ and Washington Commons
Gallery in Cape May, NJ. He has illustrated children's books for
McCracken Educational Services, Blaine, Washington and recently published
his first book, "A Memoir of WWII."
